I am writing to you today to ask you to impress the importance of the current WHO Pandemic Treaty negotiations upon our Minister for Health and our government. This Treaty could make a material difference to millions of lives in the case of another pandemic. Ireland needs to be on the right side of history and, with its EU partners, stand for equity and solidarity in global health emergencies. The Treaty needs to include binding commitments to technology sharing and transfer and to health systems strengthening.
